The postponement of a 1st team fixture on Saturday 3rd July,  presented the opportunity to play for the AGAINST THE BIAS TROPHY - a "friendly" tournament played with venom and good humour.
After 21 ends of scintillating play the rink of Tim Morgan, Barrie Thomas & skip Gill Rogers  completely overwhelmed the opposition to take the prize (pictured below).

     2010 TOUR - BOURNEMOUTH - 4th - 6th June
This year's annual club tour was a great success with the fixtures at Richmond Park, Downton and Bath.
    A large number of members enjoyed 3 days by the seaside and the excellent hospitality of their hosts.
    Captains Barrie Thomas & Margaret Errington were delighted at the welcome they were given at each club, and were pleased with the performances of the team each day.

The much loved Spring Cheese & Wine Luncheon will be held at Pentyrch Rugby Club on Sunday 11th April. Everyone is welcome, but it is best to obtain tickets from Committee members in advance to ensure your place at the table. Function starts at 4pm.
                                           NOT TO BE MISSED

Norman Poulson - congratulations to Stormin Norman Poulson who in March celebrated his 90th birthday. Following a knees up with his family Norman joined his regular Monday night 5-a-live boozers for a darts match against the Rugby Club team.
Sadly this happy event came shortly after the death of one of the club's founder members - David Rogers - who represented the club for almost 20 years with a great deal of dignity and no lack of skill.
Dai Rog will be greatly missed on the green and in the bar.

At the November 2009 AGM, Alan Parsons was voted in as President with Margaret Errington and Barrie Thomas being elected as 2010 Captains. Denis Thomas succeeds Howard Thomas as Club Secretary and Peter Neville was welcomed as the new Men's Fixture Secretary.
We wish them all well in their new positions for the forthcoming season.

* David George
Sadly our Club President passed away recently following health problems whilst on holiday in Turkey. He will be sadly missed and our thoughts and best wishes are with his wife Anne and family. David was a founder member of the club and contributed much in the early years to gain financial assistance from various sources. Without his hard work it is doubtful if the club would be in existence today.

*** TWO WOOD SINGLES
The popular annual event had its usual twists, turns and surprises on a superb sunny August Sunday afternoon. As seems to be a tradition a new name was engraved on the trophy. Champion Colleen O'Connor fell at the quarter final stage to Myra Andrews, while Colin Howson quietly disposed of opponents. Men's captain John Davies showed no mercy defeating his mother Hazel to move into the semi finals. Colin overcame Margaret Errington in the first semi final, with John beating Myra with his last wood to set up an exciting final. The lead changed on every end, with each shot being checked and measured. The match went to the final bowl of the final end - which again was measured - and Colin Howson successfully picked up 2 shots to take the trophy for the first time.

* JOHN CALNAN CUP

The 2009 John Calnan Cup (Mixed Triples) was a cut throat competition with the highly fancied trio of Janet Berry, Tim Morgan & Russell Howell leaving all of their earlier form in the ditch to be well beaten in the final by John & Hazel Davies and Howard Thomas. Captain John Davies Jnr. is pictured here presenting the trophy to the victors.

** ANNUAL TOUR to West Wales

The annual tour - this time to Carmarthen, Cardigan and Llanelli - was once again a great success. Victories were a bit scarce but we won the singing contests.
Junior members Harri Lewis & Owen Morgan won the Tourist of the Year award for their ability to get on with a bunch of old fogies.
